Willow and baby chicks

Image
Willow loves the baby chicks she was playing with them for over and hour. Oh course we were right there watching her lol. She picked up each one and held it for a while then put it down and pick up another one. They all got a turn, she even talked to a couple of them. The chick did seem scared of her at all. They just sat by her and waited for their turn.

Book of the Month-Omnivore's Dilemma

I love to read, I probably have at least three books going at once. I listen to audio books when I make beads so I usually go through 3-4 books a week. Right now I am reading The Onmivore's Dilemma. It is a very interesting book about America's relationship with corn. How the farmer is paid to basically not to farm, and corn have been over grown. I am about 1/2 into the book and will let you know what I think when I finish it. Here is the book on amazon, read the reviews they go into much more detail that I do.

To Home School or not?

I have been thinking about home schooling Willow when it comes time for her to go to school. She just turned two and preschool starts next year. I am quite the research queen so I need to start looking at my options now. I know alittle about the different methods but new seem to be popping up all the time. Anyone out there homeschool? what do you use? Post a comment or e-mail me thanks

Fall and Family

My sister in law Tamra and her family came up this weekend. Most of the time we are very laided back and just hang out around the house. This weekend we ventured off to a fest in Wisconsin, very cute. They had moved a log cabin and rebuilt it plank by plank. It was really nice. The last time they come up my chili was a hit so I made it again, good but a little hotter than last time. My nephew really loved Monkey bread, I usually buy the frozen stuff from the store. This weekend I thought I would make it. I found this recipe online. Big hit but I shortened the baking time to 35min. MONKEY BREAD 4 cans refrigerator biscuits (about 40) 1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon 1/2 cup butter 1 cup white sugar 1 cup brown sugar, packed 1/2 cup pecans, raisins and/or coconut, if desired Cut each biscuit into 4 pieces. Pour sugar and cinnamon into a plastic bag and mix. Add biscuit pieces, several at a time; shake to coat well. Place pieces in a buttered tube or Bundt pan until all are used. Sp...

Girl Friends and Chick Flicks

This weekend a couple of friends and I went to Dubuque. It is our big city :), There is a Starbucks, Borders and Target lol. It is about 40 miles to Dubuque so we don't go that often. This outing had been planned for over 2 months, due to family and work we could never find a day that worked for all of us. We left the kids at home and ventured out about noon. I even put on makeup lol. All of us had lists of things we needed to get so off to the stores we went. It was stange and wonderful to be able to brouse the racks of clothes and try a couple of things on. After that we got some lunch. It was still early and this doesn't happen all the time we wanted it to last. The movie Theater was in the area, we checked out the times. Mama Mia was play shortly. This was on the list of movies to see from a while back. So we went. It was wonderful, so funny you laugh out loud. I don't know why it got such bad reveiws. Meryl Streep is great!! the whole cast is delightful...

Life as we plan it

Today marks the second year that we have Willow. Two years ago I got on a plane and flew to O'hara with a 3 week old infant. Then I drove the 3+ hours to the farm. In the beginning we didn't think we would be raising her. We thought we where helping my daughter get her life together. Well Erin did not get her life together and Willow is her to stay. I had a great plan for my life and the farm when we moved here. Some things have come to be and other may still. My prioritys have changed a bit, Willow being my main concern. I wouldn't change a thing. Plans are good, but remember to enjoy what the universe sends you. It could be better than anything you ever imagined.

creating ponchos

Along with beads I am always creating something. I love lampworking, it is my passion, but it's my job now. I love to be able to create things just because. Right now I am working on children's felted ponchos. I am going to be opening up a new etsy's store soon to sell my creations. Also look for tutorial to be coming on the items I create.
